I met with my Westminster Colleague & Sport Wales’ Chair, Tanni Grey-Thompson and CEO, Brian Davies to learn more about Sport Wales’ £870,167 investment in Mid and West Wales communities.
The funding is part of Sport Wales’ commitment to making Wales a more active nation. The money will be used to support a wide range of projects, including:
– Providing more opportunities for people to participate in sport and physical activity
– Improving the quality of sports facilities and infrastructure
– Developing the skills of sports coaches and volunteers
Sport and physical activity have a number of benefits, including improving physical and mental health, reducing the risk of chronic diseases, and building social interaction.
I am particularly pleased to see that some of the investment will be used to support projects that are specifically aimed at under-represented groups, such as women, girls, and people with disabilities.
It is important that everyone has the opportunity to participate in sport and physical activity, regardless of their background or ability.
